ABOUT THE ITEM
Inspecting a Carol Christian Poell garment is an investigative experience. Although each form suggests its obvious functionality, the body meant to wear the piece is secondary to its composition.
While exploring the intricacies of this compelling piece, Dieter Rams’ Principles of Good Design come to mind. Simplicity does not describe this piece, but is the design honest? Is it thorough to the last detail? Is it aesthetic and innovative? Yes, to all.
Patterns were cut in similitude to a protective carapace, fitted to the shoulders and elongated with coverage down to the fingers with incorporated cuffs. The overall execution of this asymmetrical parka is superb, with hidden details as peculiar as a zippered and angled single vent.
This NAS-PTC fabric is not quite as loud as the KITE fabric from “OFF-SCENE”, but it certainly prevents any/all attempted stealth. In color 19, its insectile qualities are enhanced with a creepy silverish sheen.
